Edition 2014 of the 'Oliebollen Cross' is history. Today the Hell of Holten was the theater where 72 drivers had a great competition and fought for every inch in a sportsman way.
The 4WD class was filled with Losi's, Elcon's, FG's and MCD's. All drivers had a great day and filled their belly with the 1500 'Oliebollen' baked by MMR (they were delicious Maico!). After 3 (8 minute) qualifications, the best 2 counts for the spot on the starting grid in the B finals. After the 20 minute B finals the tickets were given for the A-finals. Our Crew Rider Ralf van Hattum took pole position with Erik de Koning (Losi) and Michael Keinemans (Elcon Imp4ct) behind him.
The finals were fabulous! We never had such a spectacle final in a long time. Ralf stays first for about 29 minutes and thought he had the trophy in the pocket. But a final is 30 minutes and some loss of concentration resulted in some mistakes and couldn't held the driving line anymore. Erik and Michael passed Ralf a round before the finish. Well driven from all three guys and very happy with the results!
Personal note from Ralf: "Today it was one of the best days ever since i am RC Competition Driver. The car was in a very good condition and was able to drive at it's limits. The new RN-GP 305GT engine from RN Tuning Modelsport is the best i have ever experienced. The power of this engine is truly incredible. It helped me a lot to keep my driving line and accelerates out of the corners like a rocket. The final was almost perfect but messed it up in the last few rounds. It was hard to see and follow my own car (black isn't the most ideal color for a body...) because of the smoke in the riding arena and that was one of the main reasons why i had some slow rounds on the end. But we learned a lot today and i am very proud with this third place!"
